IUPUI Page Composer
I just completed a modification of the University of Michigan's Page Composer for Indiana University. This work was based upon their 2.5 version of their templates.
Features removed:
- The form autosaving feature was unique to this particular use of the portfolio tools and had really different behavior than any other place in Sakai. It also would have required some rework to make it work with the "sub page" feature we added (see below).
- Hide and show the sakai menus toolbars.
- The ability to specify a theme in the page composer forms set up some expectations that once that form was saved, that it would "stick". However, the actual portfolio theme is determined elsewhere, so this was seen as somewhat misleading.
Features added:
- Each page of the portfolio can have as many sub-pages as the author desires. Each sub page can optionally be categorized with a preset list (established in the form schema) for that page type or a user can specify their own categories (by typing them in).
- Students can theme their portfolios with a list of IU preset options or they can modify a "generic" theme by specifying their own banner, background, font and color choices.
